Sea views and whale watching at Haga Haga Hotel

The sound of rollicking waves, the sight of whales on the horizon and the gentle touch of sea mist on your skin, all within a stones-throw of the actual shoreline. This is what you can expect at Haga Haga Hotel and Self-Catering Accommodation.

Located in the small seaside village of Haga Haga, on the Wild Coast, the hotel offers outstanding views of the coastline and is within walking distance of the Haga Haga River, where guests can enjoy swimming, fishing and canoeing in the warm waters.

The village is a declared conservation area owing to the number of rare indigenous species that inhabit the area, such as the Cape Clawless Otter. During whale season, guests can also participate in whale watching.

This hospitable hotel has been run by the Chemaly family, for the last 40 years. The owners Neil and Sandy Chemaly pride themselves in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for their guests.

“It’s a place where you can connect with your family and make new memories,” says Sandy.

Haga Haga offers hotel suites and self-catering units. There are eleven en-suite rooms, each with a private balcony and spectacular views of the Indian Ocean. The rooms have coffee/tea making facilities and air-conditioning.

There is also a Honeymoon Suite, where newly-married couples or those just looking for a romantic getaway, can enjoy a 180-degree view of the Ocean. This large room has a lounge and deck with wrap around glass windows.

There are nine self-catering chalets, all with sea-facing decks and braai facilities and an open-plan lounge and kitchen. Each chalet has a fully-equipped kitchen with a TV.

The hotel offers wonderful facilities, such as a clear blue pool, where guests can sit back and relax on a deck chair. There is also the Sadiwana Bar and Restaurant, the hotel dining room, the Beachcomber curio shop, as well as conference and wedding facilities.

The Sadiwana Bar and Restaurant offers mouth-watering steaks and seafood platters as well as a light lunch menu with burgers and salads. The Bar has a 180-degree view of the Indian Ocean, and is perfect for those who want to enjoy a cocktail on the deck while watching the sun set.
