The Music Kitchen hosts Folkify in aid of Animal Rescue Port Elizabeth

OCTOBER 5, 2017

Since first appearing on stage at the beginning of the year, Kevin Abraham’s ensemble show, “Folkify!” has drawn enthusiastic audiences to enjoy his brand of original music, along with engaging story-telling, and unique renditions of great “golden oldies” from the 70’s and 80’s.

Kevin made a name for himself as a singer songwriter in the 80’s and he toured extensively in SA and abroad. “Folkify!” signals his return to live performances – a collaboration with Kristo Zondagh on Percussion, and Janet Sklar on Violin.

Acclaimed performers in their own right, Kristo and Janet bring a powerful musical element to the show.  The result is a uniquely entertaining, thoughtful and engaging performance.

Says Kevin:  “Folkify was planned specifically with a mature audience in mind.  Most of our audiences range in age from 40 upwards. They’re familiar with the music of the 70’s and 80’s, and they’re willing to listen to decent original stuff, too. We set out to perform a show that emphasizes acoustic music, but delivers a very solid punch. “

He adds “I believe that we have shown that a more mature audience has the spirit and the willingness to come out and support music that resonates with them.”

The “Folkify!” show emphasizes close engagement with a seated audience, cabaret style.  It’s a “relax and be entertained” kind of evening and you’re encouraged to book a table, and enjoy the show with a group of friends

In keeping with the setting, and the style of the show, please be aware that the menu for the evening is limited to three delicious food offerings.

There is a bar available, but no service during the show; but you’ll get plenty of time to enjoy the food and recharge your glasses.

To end off this season, Folkify will present two special shows at The Music Kitchen in Port Elizabeth, on Friday, 13th October, and Saturday, 14th October.

Both shows will be in support of Animal Welfare, Port Elizabeth.

“As many of us know,” says Kevin, “Animal Welfare offers a safe haven for all kinds of unwanted, lost or abandoned animals. Not only cats and dogs, but also livestock such as donkeys, horses, cattle and other animals and birds.

“Folkify” is proud to be associated with these dedicated people and their cause.”
