What’s On in the Eastern Cape: 15 - 17 December

The weekend is finally here! Better get your tree up and start the Christmas shopping as the big day is almost here! But don’t focus on just Christmas this month, there are plenty of fun and exciting events to take part in this weekend. From live music to local charity events, get into the festive spirit this month!

PORT ELIZABETH

Friday 15th

  • Animals in Wonderland will be hosting a Holiday Club from 9am till 2pm for your children! Costing just R250 per child, they can enjoy a ton of fun activities, lunch and snacks, and some time with animals, as well as go for a nice swim.   • Baakens Food Truck Friday is back and will be taking place from 4pm till 9pm at WERK.  Join in for the monthly food truck night market, featuring Wandile Mbambeni Music ZA from Joburg! For more information check out their Facebook page
  • Summer days... and long hot summer nights. We've been waiting for this all year. Exams are done, summer holidays are here! Cocktails in your hand, light breeze blowing, friends, sun and house music, what could be better. Kyle Watson will be performing live from 6pm till late at McArthur’s Pool in Beach Road.   •  The Underground Club in PE brings you Afro Nights from 8pm till late with Pascal Morais,Dyrho, Pablo Sultry Suite, ChrisBeatsDj BIGGZ -The Entertainer and DJ Ayaz. Saturday 16th

  • Join the PE Hobie Beach parkrun, which takes place every Saturday at 8am. This is a 5km run, and it is you against the clock. Register with them today and enjoy a fun run along the beach.
  • DinosAlive is South Africa's biggest and best dinosaur exhibition that showcases 25 lifelike animatronic dinosaurs. This travelling exhibition will soon be moving for the very FIRST time to Port Elizabeth, Baywest Mall. They will be hosting DinosAlive from Saturday to Sunday until the 7th of January 2018 in the outside parking area between entrance 1 and 2.   • The Valley Christmas Market will be taking place from 9am till 9pm at the Tramways Building. The Valley Run will take place at 8am and the market will run from 9am till 9pm. There is so much to look forward to - delicious food, new stalls, Christmas shopping, the pop up Christmas House Shop, live entertainment; Father Christmas will be visiting from 10am till 12pm and so much more!  Entrance is R20 per person, for more information check out their Facebook page.
  • The Windsong Boho Summer Market will be taking place from 10am till 2pm at 142 Villiers Road in Walmer. Quarterly bohemian-flavoured market where you can come along dressed as you are whether it be in khakis and boots, or boardshorts and barefoot - everyone's welcome! NO entry fee. Goods on sale are handrafted, homegrown, homemade - no mass-produced goods here.   • The Herald Christmas on the Farm will be taking place from 3pm till 10pm at Homeleigh Farmyard. This event will feature a Christmas market and pop-up shops for some last-minute shopping in a relaxed environment. As the sun sets, special guests will lead everyone in song for an atmospheric Christmas carols by candlelight. Tickets cost R30 and children two years and under get in for free. Sunday 17th

  • ROCKING the PEtunias is back for its 7th year and we have some great local acts to keep you entertained the ENTIRE day from 11am till 11pm at Ziggy’s Rock and Reggae Bar. GRAHAMSTOWN

Saturday 16th

  • The Grahamstown Morning Market takes place every Saturday morning at the Old Gaol in Somerset Street. There are various stalls, including some who sell arts and crafts, plants, home-made offerings and much more!
  • The Grahamstown Parkrun takes place every Saturday morning at the Makana Botanical Gardens from 8am. This is a 5km run, and it is you against the clock. Register with them today and enjoy a morning in the fresh air.


JEFFREY’S BAY

Friday 15th

  • The Chicken Run Golf Day takes place every Friday from 7am to 3pm. You pay for and play nine holes, and then get nine free. There are Rotisserie chicken vouchers from Woolworths up for grabs.

Saturday 16th

  • The JBay Cycle Club – Social Rides, is a great way for you to get into the fresh air. This is a permanent event which takes place every Saturday morning at 6am. It’s also the perfect opportunity to help with your fitness levels. Join them at the corner of Poplar and Da Gama Way in Jeffrey’s Bay.
  • The Kouga Lions Club Flea Market is a weekly event that takes place at the Saverite parking grounds, St Francis Rd. There are some great fresh produce to buy and so much more. Go and enjoy a lovely morning.
  • The 3rd Drommedaris Holiday Run will take place on the 16th of December from 7am till 10am. This is a fun, friendly family run for all to do. There will be the 10km Run (with some familiar faces) and the 5km FUN run/walk. For more information check out their Facebook page

Sunday 17th

  • The 2017 Dolphin Run and Relay will be taking place from 7am till 3pm at the Kabeljauws Beach. Solo run of 36km on the beach from Jeffreys Bay to Nelson Mandela Bay or take part in the relay run of 12km, 21km, and 4km from JBay to Gamtoos, to Blue Horizon Bay, to Maitlands.
