VIDEO: The Bayside Pantry serves up French for month of love

BY JESICA SLABBERT - FEBRUARY 8, 2018

February is the month of love, and no other dining experience is closely associated with romance like French cuisines! While the chefs at the Boardwalk’s Bayside Pantry restaurant may not be fluent in French, they are certainly experts in serving the best French fare.

As per tradition over the past two years, the Bayside Pantry hosts a themed menu every Wednesday evening, with a different country’s cuisine being highlighted every month.

Last month the Bayside Pantry featured the tastes of Greece - fit for the Gods no doubt.

This month, as a tribute to love, the Bayside Pantry will be serving French cuisine.

To start, there is a choice of hearty French soups such as Soup au potiron (pumpkin soup) and Garbure as well as specially prepared salads such as the Salade de pommes de terre (French potato salad) and the slow roasted tomato salad with French beans and feta.

Soul warming hot pots and casseroles to be enjoyed are Beef bourguignon amongst others, along with perfectly prepared vegetable dishes such as Chou-fleur a la Mornay gratin (cauliflower au gratin with cheese).

And you absolutely cannot forgo trying traditional French desserts, from decadent chocolate truffles, to a mouth-watering French crepe, you will wish for a bigger stomach just for dessert!

A new concept that has been introduced for their Wednesday menu is their bottomless drinks, which allows for free refills and self-service for any of the drinks on offer, from wine, to beer to soft drinks.

The French Buffet is available every Wednesday in February, from 18h00 to 22h00. The cost is R275 per person, and R300 per person on the 14th (Valentine's Day). Booking is essential on (041) 507 7793.
