What’s On in the Eastern Cape: 16 - 18 March

The weekend is here and this week we get to celebrate the luck of the Irish with St Patrick’s Day! Enjoy a number of events from live Music Kitchen or have fun at the big music market where there will be food stalls and live musical performances! There is so much to do, where to begin?!

PORT ELIZABETH

Friday 16th

  • Head on down to the Music Kitchen from 7:30pm till 10:30pm to see Jan Blohm and his band perform live. For more information check out their Facebook page.
  • The SAACI Eastern Cape Amazing Mystery Tour will be taking place from 8:30am till 2pm at the Londt Park Sports Club. Cost is R600 per team of three, be sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes as there will be some activities along the way. Saturday 17th

  • Join the PE Hobie Beach parkrun, which takes place every Saturday at 8am. This is a 5km run, and it is you against the clock. Register with them today and enjoy a fun run along the beach.
  • Pack your picnic blanket and invite your friends to submerge into the beauty of the Baakens Valley to help inspire your Yoga Practice, indulge in some quality wine and enjoy a delicious healthy lunch. Pairing wellness with some of life’s enjoyable indulgences has a magical outcome of lightness, happiness and of course, balance.   • An outdoor monthly farmer's market is taking place every 3rd Saturday in Sardinia Bay from 9am till 2pm at the Sards Bark Park next to the Sardinia Bay Kennels. Pop in and enjoy the food trucks, find some homemade/ home-grown goods and other gift items and let the kids and dogs go wild! Entrance is free, for more information check out their Facebook page.
  • Join in on the fun at The Beach Hotel as they host their second Wedding Fair from 12pm till 5pm on Saturday. They are teaming up with wedding suppliers to present a magical showcase of wedding trends, including everything from wedding decor, bridal gowns, cakes, guest favours, wedding stationery and more.   • This month, in partnership with the Mandela Bay Development Agency and the Eastern Cape Philharmonic Orchestra, Baakens Food Truck Funday presents: Music @ the Market!   • Join Domestic Animal Care for a rip roaring St Pawtricks Day party to celebrate Sharon Kemps 50'th birthday! If you're up for the craic and a night of bolloxology and karaoke, come and support this amazing charity on the 17th of March at Kemsley Park Sports Bar on Lennox Road. Party starts at 6pm.   • NMU Nelson Mandela University Underwater Club invites you to their St Patrick's day Celebration. It's time to get Irishly festive, Put on your new shoes and best shades of green and come find the gold. You'll find the clubhouse behind the NMU sports centre by the gym. Sunday 18th

  • Head on down to the Music Kitchen from 7pm till 9pm as Andrew Young and Jethro Butow perform live. Andrew’s special guest in this Show is Rock Hall Of Fame and guitar legend Jethro Butow, born in Port Elizabeth. He is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest guitarists and has played on more SA albums than can be found in the average South African household! GRAHAMSTOWN

Friday 16th

  • Facing the Gallows is proud to bring you ‘Dead Mindset’ the long anticipated 12 track full-length album produced by Clinton Watts of Watts Productions Recording Studio. As part of a national tour to promote ‘Dead Mindset’, Facing the Gallows will be playing from 7pm till late at the SSS Top Bar. Entrance is R50, for more information check out their Facebook page.  

Saturday 17th

  • The Grahamstown Morning Market takes place every Saturday morning at the Old Gaol in Somerset Street. There are various stalls, including some who sell arts and crafts, plants, home-made offerings and much more!
  • The Grahamstown Parkrun takes place every Saturday morning at the Makana Botanical Gardens from 8am. This is a 5km run, and it is you against the clock. Register with them today and enjoy a morning in the fresh air.


JEFFREY’S BAY

Friday 16th

  • The Chicken Run Golf Day takes place every Friday from 7am to 3pm. You pay for and play nine holes, and then get nine free. There are Rotisserie chicken vouchers from Woolworths up for grabs.

Saturday 17th

  • The JBay Cycle Club – Social Rides, is a great way for you to get into the fresh air. This is a permanent event which takes place every Saturday morning at 6am. It’s also the perfect opportunity to help with your fitness levels. Join them at the corner of Poplar and Da Gama Way in Jeffrey’s Bay.
  • The Kouga Lions Club Flea Market is a weekly event that takes place at the Saverite parking grounds, St Francis Rd. There are some great fresh produce to buy and so much more. Go and enjoy a lovely morning.


PORT ALFRED

Friday 16th

  • The Duckpond Morning Market takes place every Friday and Saturday morning. You can purchase some great goodies, including jams, pickles, second-hand books, cakes, second-hand clothes, quiches, crochet, knitting, plants and more!

Saturday 17th

  • The Woodlands Market takes place every Saturday beneath the trees at Woodlands Cottages and Backpackers in Grahamstown Road. Here you can enjoy some arts, crafts, delicious foods and more. The market opens at 8am.
