Great food and even greater service at Two Olives restaurant

Inmates on death row are famously allowed to choose whatever they want for their last meal. I would simply say, “Anything from Two Olives!”

A few months back Jonothan Gunston, owner and Chef at Two Olives, launched a new menu. Within 12 hours of hearing this wonderful news, I was seated, napkin on my lap and fork in hand ready for my first sampling.

For me, Two Olives is up there with the best restaurants in the country.

It is certainly the best restaurant to visit with friends. The lighting, table layout, acoustics and atmosphere seem to inspire good conversation. Nothing fancy; but very cosy.

At our table was a marine engineer, a geologist, a taxidermist, a conservationist, a boat skipper and myself.

We asked Jonothan to just send us everything new from his kitchen and so began a very enjoyable, if a little loud, afternoon.

We sampled Linguini Alla Vongole, Baba Ganoush, Harissa Hummus and Gambas Alla Blancha - all new, as well as the new recipes for Roasted Bone Marrow, Fallaffel and Chicken Shish Kebabs.

The bone marrow is sublime, the Squid Ink pasta in the Linguine is unbelievably good and the Fallaffel the best I have ever tasted.
