What’s On in the Garden Route: 09 - 11 February

Friday 9th

  • Quiz night is happening at the Santos Express Train Lodge! Join in on every Friday night at 7pm for a fun filled evening! Bring your team of 2-6 pals, put on your thinking caps and join in the silliness! Entry fee is R10 per person, book a table in advance to avoid disappointment. Cash and other prizes to be won. Saturday 10th

  • The Hartenbos parkrun is a free 5km run/walk at Kleingeluk, Oudtshoorn road (R328). Grandparents, parents and children are welcome. Every Saturday at 8am regardless of the weather.

  • The Hakerville Village Market will be taking place from 8am till 12pm on the N2 halfway between Knysna & Plett. Mouth-watering breakfast and a broad selection of delicious foods and drinks. Interesting and creative crafts. Gentle music and all the ingredients for a most relaxing morning. Ample parking.


Friday 9th

  • The Milkwood Village Night Market: Quaff your favourite wine, nibble aged cheeses and munch kebabs straight off the coals while listening to live music. Milkwood Village is an all-year-round meeting place with a lovely vibe. Every Friday from 4pm till 9pm.
  • The Entrepreneurs Night Market will be taking place from 5pm till 10pm at the Getafix Café. This market provides a platform for locals to show off their talents when it comes to arts and crafts, music, and food, as well as providing a family-friendly environment for all to enjoy.   • The Hope Church Night Run will be taking place from 6:30pm at the Garden Route Botanical Gardens.  You can choose between a 10km forest run, a 5km fun forest walk/run as well as a 3km road run/walk. Entries are available here, for more information check out their Facebook page.   

Saturday 10th

  • The Market Lane Crafts and Food Market takes place at Donnerail Square, Behind Market Street, in George every Saturday from 8:30am till 2pm. For enquiries, contact Bes at 083 701 5352.
  • The Berg en Dal Hiking Club meets up every Saturday during the summer months in the parking area (Kerkstraat) of the NG Kerk, Courtenay Street to hike distances that vary from about 8 to 20 kilometres. They welcome anyone who has a love for nature and is reasonably active to join for an invigorating time walking in the beautiful environment that is the Garden Route. 
  • The George Park Run takes place every Saturday from 8am at the Botanical Gardens. It is a 5km run – it’s you against the clock. It’s free! But please register before your first run. Only ever register with park run once. For more information check out their website or email info@botanicalgarden.org.za  
  • The Outeniqua Farmers’ Market takes place from 8am, and is a five-hectare site which is home to nearly 80 food and craft stalls offering produce and goods created by local farmers and skilled craft people. The Market is located opposite the Garden Route Mall on the N2, and takes place every Saturday.   • The 22nd George Old Car will take place on 10 & 11 February 2018 at the PW Botha High School Grounds. This event is hosted annually by the Southern Cape Old Car Club and the funds raised are donated to various local organizations. A large exhibition will include vintage and veteran cars, tractors, motorcycles, model motors and stationary engines. For more information check out their Facebook page.

  • The Knysna Friday Night Market will be taking place at Knysna Montessori School (off Welbedacht Road) from 4pm till 8pm. Enjoy a wide variety of food. Bar available. For more information, call 044 382-5316.

  • The Plett Ski Boat Club will be hosting a Fishy Friday’s event throughout the day. Enjoy the Catch of the day and Chips at R59 per person; add a bottle of Porcupine Sauvignon Blanc for R50 – All Day Special.


Saturday 10th

  • The Wild Oats Market is an exciting and significant landmark in the heart of South Africa’s garden route; this multiple award-winning WILD OATS Community Farmers' Market is located on the outskirts of the tiny coastal town of Sedgefield, adjacent to the beautiful Swartvlei lake-lagoon and takes place from 8am till noon.

  • Start the weekend right at a festive village market ‘under milkwood’ from 4pm. Quaff your favourite wine, nibble aged cheeses and munch kebabs straight off the coals while listening to live music. Milkwood Village is an all-year-round meeting place with a lovely vibe. Mosey around the arts, crafts and unique clothing stalls, eat yummy food, slake your thirst with a pint at one of the pubs and just enjoy the vibrant magical atmosphere beneath the old White Milkwood trees.
