Arbour Gardens: Magalies' hidden gem

BY MASEGO BLOSE & PALESA MATT - JULY 30, 2018

If you are looking for paradise, then look no further than the enchanting Arbour Gardens.

Instilled with contemporary elegance and vintage elements, this luxurious accommodation is the ideal getaway that offers harmony, luxury and breath-taking views.

The accommodation stretches across six acres of woodland vegetation. It has multiple themed gardens and the Magalies River running alongside the property.

Arbour Gardens is a family-run establishment, consisting of three self-catering lodges. Owners, Natalie and Stephen Simmons, pride themselves on their establishment and ensure that the comfort of each guest is their highest priority.

Families can enjoy swimming in the communal pool, jumping on the trampoline, and exploring the sandpit. There are also the beautiful Japanese and Jurassic themed gardens, which lead down to the banks of the Magalies River.

Guests can enjoy the calming sounds of the pristine water and watch the sunsets and birdlife.

Each lodge is uniquely decorated. The Forest Lodge offers modernity and luxury; the River House takes you back in time with its vintage furnishings while the Pin Oak Cottage is rustic and quirky.

I stayed in the Forest Lodge, which is perfect for large families, as it can accommodate eight people. Its contemporary design and furnishings make guests feel like they are staying in a magazine featured home, with a caption that reads, “Designer home of the year!”

The lodge exceeded my every expectation - with a gas fireplace in the heart of the living room, a spacious fullyequipped kitchen that inspired me to cook mouth-watering meals, and a large deck on the upper and lower level.

I enjoyed a wonderful braai on the lower deck and watched a beautiful sunrise and sunset during my stay.

The Forest Lodge has five bedrooms, three bathrooms, a gaming room, TV and heaters. The main bedroom has a beautifully decorated en-suite bathroom.

The elegant River House accommodates six people and consists of a fully-equipped kitchen, a dining area with a beautiful view, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The living room has a wood-burning fireplace and a patio overlooking the garden and Magalies River.

The Pin Oak Cottage has quirky, vintage décor and accommodates four people. It has two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a lounge with a wood-burning fireplace as well as a fully equipped kitchenette and patio.

Arbour Gardens has so much to offer, with its excellent facilities and magnificent views, why not book a holiday with them today to experience absolute paradise. For more information, call 082 885 3050 or visit www.arbourgardens.co.za
