Live in luxury at the Treelands Castle

BY JESICA SLABBERT - JULY 30, 2018

Dullstroom is the premier fly-fishing location in South Africa, surrounded by dams and lakes. Its picturesque views and great climate allow for great stays – and one of the best accommodation offerings in Dullstroom is Treelands Castle.

Aptly named, the Treelands Castle, part of the Treelands accommodation group, is a self-catering accommodation set in a lovely wild forest garden. Its secluded location and rustic charm will make you feel like you have been transported back in time.

Treelands Castle can sleep nine people and has four bedrooms, three of which are queen-sized with en-suite bathrooms, as well as a twin-bedroom that has a shared bathroom.

The large open-plan lounge and dining room is the perfect place for your friends or family to relax, the large fireplace is blissful during the cold winter nights, while the covered braai patio is great when you want to enjoy a traditional South African braai under the stars. There is also a TV with the DStv hotel package and Wi-Fi available.

The kitchen is fully-stocked and has all the equipment you could ever need, from a microwave, fridge, dishwasher and oven as well as tea and coffee making facilities. You’ll be sure to enjoy great meals and clean dishes during your stay.

Treelands Castle is perfectly situated, so that the town is within walking distance.

For the sports enthusiasts, Dullstroom has an array of activities to choose from, you can play golf at the Highland Gate Golf and Trout Estate which is a mere 14km away, or try out one of the many mountain biking trails in the area.

Dullstroom is considered the premier destination for flyfishing in Mpumalanga, so bring your gear and try your hand at catching a few for the braai. A Clay Pigeon Shooting Centre is also nearby as well as a horse riding centre. Take out your bicycle or go for a walk and get to know the old world charm that Dullstroom has to offer.

For nature lovers, feel free to take a trip to the Dullstroom Bird of Prey and Rehabilitation Centre; a haven for birds of prey. There are also many different bird species in the surrounding area, so bird watching is a very popular pastime in Dullstroom.

A trip to the Dullstroom Nature Reserve is also a must. Renowned for its trout fishing dams, scenic vegetation and fantastic hiking trails, it is definitely worth exploring.

Don’t feel like cooking? There is a wide selection of good restaurants close-by that you can choose from. Enjoy great service and a fantastic menu at the Coachman Restaurant, or go for a craft beer tasting at the Anvil Ale.
