The Santa Shoebox Project – March to A Million

SEPTEMBER 15, 2017

Now in its 11th year, South Africa’s best-loved children’s charity, the Santa Shoebox Project, is shaking things up!

Having exceeded 650 000 Shoeboxes in 2016, SSB is marching to reach one million underprivileged children by 2019. What this means is that the number of Shoeboxes required each year will be increasing to 110 000 in 2017, 115 000 in 2018 and 125 000 in 2019.

The excitement will build until the millionth pledge is made for the millionth child, the millionth Shoebox is delivered by a donor to one of the more than 50 Drop Offs around

South Africa and Namibia - and handed to the child for whom it was pledged. Who will that donor be? Which Drop Off will welcome him or her? It could be YOU!

In support of the March To A Million, a flagship Drop Off will be held at Stor-Age in

Randburg, Johannesburg, hot on the heels of Cape Town’s successful event, which has been held at the CTICC for the last 3 years. At this up-scaled event at the end of October, Gauteng donors will see Santa’s workshop in action, with more than 30 thousand Shoeboxes being received, checked and packed into cartons en-route to the children. You’re invited to bring YOUR children to Share the Joy of Giving!

“To have the magic million in sight is truly awe-inspiring,” says Chief Executive Officer and Founder of the Project, Irené Pieters.

“When we collected 160 Shoeboxes in a friend’s garage back in 2006, not in our wildest dreams did we envisage ‘Marching To A Million’. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our stakeholders over the last 10 years for supporting us in so many, very generous ways. We literally could not have achieved this without you!”
