What’s On in the Winelands East: 16 - 18 March

Explore our beautiful Winelands East events calendar to see what events are taking place this week in the Winelands East region.

Saturday 17th

  • Village Market is held every Saturday morning until 12:30pm in the lovely Euvrard Park, Bath Street, opposite the Tourism Bureau. A real winner with locals and visitors alike, this is the place to experience a slice of Montagu life. For more information contact Angelique Delderfield at 084 389 0121 or email: leadersatlogos@gmail.com.
  • It’s time to start getting ready for Eroica South Africa 2018! And this year they will be introducing a Nova Eroica enduro-style race category! They will have the usual three great vintage bike routes on Saturday, along with the Eroica Festival, and on Sunday morning you can bring and race your modern gravel bike in the new 185 kilometre Nova Eroica category. Of course there will be great food and wine, and lots of old bicycles to lust over, and now a bit of modern gravel bike racing too. Tickets are available here, for more information check out their Facebook page.

Friday 16th

  • On Friday the Millstone Pottery is offering a rare opportunity:  Buy-a-bowl and get free food - Potter Paul de Jongh has made a large selection of bowls and with prices starting at R150, you get to choose one for yourself. Buy your bowl and then help yourself to a delicious dinner followed by dessert at an additional cost. Live music will be provided by another talented local, Konrad Brownlee (7-8pm).  The evening starts at 6.30pm, BYO wine and booking is essential.
  • The MMACC Gallery will once again host an exhibition of Vintage and Classic Bicycles from the 15th to the 29th of March. This exciting exhibition includes the Dursley Pedersen bicycle from 1893, a fine collection of Colnagos, tandems, folding bicycles, and classic Du Toit bicycles -made in South Africa by Francois du Toit.
Of great interest is the Filibus – a German cargo bike which has space for the whole family including the kitchen sink! The South African Eroica Cycle Race will once again start at the MMACC in the KWV Building on Saturday 17th March - registration taking place on Friday, entrance is R20 for adults.

Saturday 17th

  • Watch artists in action at How Bazaar where Carey May will be painting.  Browse around, have a fabulous cup of coffee and the best toasties in the Western Cape while you watch him paint.  An artist who will also be in action is surrealist, Pieter van Tonder, who will paint in the courtyard at Grape De-Vine.  He paints in oils and starts the day with a blank canvass and sets himself the unenviable task of completing it in a single day. Watch the artist at work and enjoy a glass or two of local wine and conversation with locals and Pieter, himself. For More Information Contact McGregor Tourism on info@tourismmcgregor.co.za.
