Wederom Wine Farm is a truly wonderful place

BY JESICA SLABBERT - DECEMBER 10, 2018

Perfectly situated between the vineyards and orchards of Robertson Valley, the Wederom Wine Farm is truly an experience.

Wederom and the Hanepoot Huisies invite you to escape the humdrum of the city and experience peace and tranquillity for the soul.

The Wederom Italian history

Co-owned by the Meyer and Viljoen families, Wederom farm has a rich and colourful history, as it was once a place for Italian prisoners of war to work after being caught in Ethiopia in 1943. During the time, a room was constructed with a unique drawing on the wall made by one of the prisoners, Giovanni Salvadori, which was restored in 2004 and opened to the public as a museum.

The museum also serves as one of the wine tasting rooms, so you can enjoy the distinct Italian history while enjoying a glass of Wederom’s house wine - the Salvadori Shiraz.

Enjoy a rest in the Hanepoot Huisies

Those wanting to enjoy a stay at the Wederom farm can find themselves at home in their Hanepoot Huisies. These can accommodate up to 24 people in their 12 beautifully-restored cottages.

All rooms are beautifully-decorated and fitted with en-suite bathrooms, DStv, electric blankets and air-con for those hot days and chilly nights, with a fridge and tea and coffee-making facilities. Wi-Fi is available in the dining room area, although the location does not allow for the best signal.

Plenty to offer...

During the summer, guests can also enjoy the refreshing pool and braai facilities are available for those wanting to enjoy a traditional South African cookout.

Of course, you cannot fully experience the Wederom Wine Farm without sampling their homemade wines. Handcrafted in their boutique cellar, Wederom produces a delicious Salvadori Vinno Rosso, and are also bringing back their Wederom Merlot.

Wederom is also a great place to host weddings and corporate functions. With farm-style catering and heavenly surroundings, it is the perfect setting for your special day. Up to 120 guests can be accommodated for your function.

As Wederom is situated in Robertson, you will find that you won’t be short of activities to enjoy in the surrounding area. Bike rides and mountain hiking are a great way to enjoy the sights and smells of Robertson. And since you are in wine country, why not take a tour of the surrounding wine farms along the way.

As Wederom translates to ‘see you again’, it’s no wonder that guests tend to return after thoroughly enjoying their first experience on the wine farm.
