What’s On in the Winelands West: 16 - 18 March

Friday 16th

  • We're nearing the end of a tough two weeks, so come wind down with us and let's get SKETCHY at the Drink and Draw event at the Trumpet Tree! It's going to be a really fun experience and we will be getting some awesome collaborative artworks in the process. This event will be taking place from 5:30pm till 9:30pm, for more information check out their Facebook page.
  • The Waterford Sunset Session Featuring Arno Carstens on Friday from 6pm till 9pm at the Waterford Wine Estate. Bring a picnic and join in for an evening of live music with your family and friends. Tickets are R200 per person and available here. For more information check out their Facebook page.

Saturday 17th

  • The Japan Day festival is part of the Japan Cultural Week program at the Old Libertas Slow Market running from 2 – 17 March 2018, and will showcase various exciting, exotic and fun aspects of Japan and Japanese culture. The performances on the day will include martial arts demonstrations and workshops in a dedicated martial arts village, Aikido, Karate, Judo, Kenjutsu, Kyudo, a Cosplay show, traditional Japanese music and authentic Japanese food demonstrations by a Japanese chef. Exhibitions will include Bonsai Competition, Koi fish and Sumi-e. There’ll be something for everyone in the family, young and old, covering an array of interests and the festival is a free event. Sunday 18th

  • Lace up your trainers, strive to improve your fitness level and uncover some of the most magnificent views through the vineyards during harvest time with the first FALKE series trail run for the year. Don’t miss singletrack heaven with awesome views! Climbing the mountain behind the estate with various trails bringing you back down to the finish. Friday 16th

  • Jakkie Louw will be performing live from 8pm till 11pm at the Crown Bar. Entrance is R80 per person, to make a booking call 021 872 5765. For more information check out their Facebook page.

Saturday 17th

  • A festive and fun celebration of figs, the XTN Fig Festival will be taking place from 10am at the XTN Family Farm. Family fun, farm animals, fig picking, food stalls and food trucks, fig beer and estate wines and live music in safe surroundings. Bookings can be made at xtnfigfestival@gmail.com.   • The Long Table Fundraiser event for The Family Tree Academy is set for Saturday at 5:30pm. Once again the long table will be set up amongst the vineyards on the historic d'Olyfboom Estate in Napier Street. Friends, family and colleagues can get together to enjoy an evening of wonderful food, a stunning setting overlooking Paarl mountain and town, live music by Jan-Hendrik Fourie of the Jimm Harisson Project Band and local wines. Tickets at R350 per person, includes a welcome drink, lawn games, live music, a three-course meal, wine or juice on the tables and the chance to participate in the silent auction.
